Recently I have resumed printmaking, using monotype
techniques. I’m inspired by the versatility of this process to
create transparencies and ambiguities in the subject. As I
explore the possibilities of this technique, I’m using motifs
from the natural world and themes from Aboriginal and
African art. My work focuses on variety in texture, color and
pattern. I often use monotyped paper and images to collage
onto other monotypes giving added depth and dimension.

A few days ago I saw the Picasso exhibit at The Seattle Art Museum. It is an amazing show. The thing I find most inspiring about Picasso, other than his incredible vision and skill, is his commitment to each subject. This is what I was feeling as I worked on this print.
