Recently I have resumed printmaking, using monotype
techniques. I’m inspired by the versatility of this process to
create transparencies and ambiguities in the subject. As I
explore the possibilities of this technique, I’m using motifs
from the natural world and themes from Aboriginal and
African art. My work focuses on variety in texture, color and
pattern. I often use monotyped paper and images to collage
onto other monotypes giving added depth and dimension.

Although I'm not aware of any lighthouses on the island where I live, this piece reminds me of the pale lights that appear in the moist atmosphere of darkness around the waterfront.
